Are you a sprinter, a long distance runner, or is it just the fun of running with friends and family for a noble cause that inspires you?

We are glad to announce the return of the Uganda Wildlife Marathon taking place on 25th February 2018 starting at 06:00AM from the Uganda Museum.

In line with the global theme for the World Wildlife Day celebrations on 3rd March 2018 – “Big cats: Predators Under Threat”, this year’s wildlife marathon is intended at creating a safe environment for the survival of big cats.

Big cats are among the most widely recognized and admired animals across the globe. However today these charismatic predators (Lions, Leopards and Cheetah for the case of Uganda) are facing many and varied threats, which are mostly caused by humans.

Overall, their populations are declining at a disturbing rate due to loss of habitat and prey, conflicts with people, poaching and illegal trade. For example African lion populations around the world dropped by 40% in just 20 years. There is thus an urgent need for a range of measures to arrest this decline.

The marathon is one in many other events that will be used to publicize the plight of big cats around in Uganda, leading to the World Wildlife Day celebrations in Kasese district.

Registration for the 5KM, 10KM and 21KM categories is open at our office in Nakawa at the Capital Shoppers Building (Opposite MUBS) 2nd Floor Room 15.
